Sick Visits & Emergencies

Sick Visits

We encourage you to call us with any concerns regarding your child's well-being. Our specially trained nurses will advise you on common illnesses and symptoms and answer basic questions. If you wish your child to be seen by one of our providers, we will schedule an appointment promptly. For possible emergencies, the nurse will consult immediately with one of our providers. You may also ask to speak to one of the doctors or advanced practice providers directly.

After-Hours Care

If your child needs medical assistance after our office has closed, our answering service will connect you with the on-call provider. A physician or advanced practice provider is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Emergency Care

Yale-New Haven Hospital is our preferred hospital for emergency care. If time permits, please call us before going to any emergency room so we can ensure your child is receiving the best medical treatment.

Walk-In Clinics

To ensure the best medical treatment for your child, we don’t recommend using walk-in clinics. Walk-in clinics aren’t able to offer the continuity of care or follow-up necessary for your child’s long-term well- being. In addition, medications that our providers wouldn’t normally prescribe are sometimes used. If you do take your child to a walk-in clinic, we won’t generally make judgments on the care received there without first seeing your child. Remember, CMG is open seven days a week to accommodate your family. In the event that your child requires medical attention while you are out of the area—such as when you are on vacation or traveling—please call our office first so we can advise you on what to do.
